It only took one month after the reef went in for marine life to become firmly established on the reef making it part of the 'natural' environment.

Three months later and marine life continues to grow - millions of baby mussels cover the tops of the big bags, numerous species of fish are all round the reef, and a 2 foot octopus also seems to have taken residence at the Mount Reef Motel!
