HOW TO DONATE

That's easy!

1. Go into any of the participating surfing retailers in the area and pop your dollars in the donation box or even better buy a Mount Reef t-shirt at $39.95 and be proud in the knowledge that you built the reef!

2. Download our Donation Automatic Payment Form and if it makes it easier for you, just donate a bit at a time over the next few months. We'll send you an official receipt so you can claim 30% of your donation back from the IRD. Download the Inland Revenue claim form for personal tax rebate (IR 526) here or phone the IRD INFOexpress on 0800 257 773. (You should receive a cheque back from the IRD in about 6 weeks time).

3. Write out a cheque made payable to 'The Mount Reef Trust' and mail it to PO Box 5377, Mount Maunganui.

DONATIONS & TAX IMPLICATIONS

DONATIONS FROM BUSINESSES
Donations made by businesses are fully deductible and are treated as an allowable expense as per the Income Tax Act 1994 Section DJ, subsection 4 - Deductions in respect of gifts of money by companies. Please however consult your accountant for further advise as allowable donations are subject to thresholds.

DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS
If you have made a personal donation of between $5 and $1889 to an approved charitable organisation such as the Mount Reef Trust during the tax year, you can claim back one third of it from Inland Revenue as a rebate. For total donations of $1,890 or more however, the maximum claimable rebate is $630.

INLAND REVENUE REBATE CLAIM FORM (IR 526)
The Inland Revenue claim form for personal tax rebate (IR 526) can be downloaded here or can be obtained by phoning the IRD INFOexpress on 0800 257 773. Please ensure you ask us for an official receipt for your donation to the Mount Reef Trust and keep this to send in with your IRD claim form.
